Buy survival items for refugees
Let’s face it all our Aid Shop items are ‘emergency’ items. But these items will ensure people’s survival when on the move - from tents and sleeping bags to heaters and fuel for stoves - you name it, we’ve got it here!
Provide a refugee with somewhere warm and dry to sleep; give them the ability to keep warm and cook a complete meal or purchase batteries to keep torches powered at night.
With two minibuses in operation, we are evacuating approximately 12 people each day from frontline towns in Eastern Ukraine or delivering vital food aid to remote villages near the frontline.
We are focused on the most vulnerable: the elderly and infirm, to families with small children. Many people are in need of hospital care that they cannot receive without our transport. Fuel is a lifeline in Ukraine right now.
£25 will fill one jerry can with diesel. Each van needs about two cans per day to perform its evacuations. This means that by buying one jerry can you can help evacuate three people!
After the 7.8 earthquake destroyed their homes, the people of Southern Turkiye and Northern Syria have been forced to leave their homes, possessions and sources of income.
Many are arriving daily at both formal and informal settlements, or are staying with receiving families and friends. All they have is just the clothes on their backs and they are in desperate need for core relief items.
For £26, we can distribute one warm blanket to one person, providing core relief to someone affected by the earthquake.
With daily curfews and regular blackouts, torches have become an essential item in Eastern Ukraine.
For just £6, you can buy a pack of 20 AA or AAA batteries for people living in war torn areas.
Buy a pair of waterproof walking boots for a refugee and help keep their feet warm and dry.
Just like in the UK, it rains a lot in France and Greece (believe it or not!), especially in the winter. These comfy walking boots will help to keep a refugee’s feet warm and dry; we can all relate to the importance of that. Having comfortable footwear is so important, especially when you’re on the move, without waterproof shoes, refugee’s health is at risk too.
Help keep a refugee warm and dry by donating a pair of waterproof walking boots.
Buy a tent for a refugee in Northern France for less than the price of a meal out and give them somewhere warm and dry to sleep.
Imagine having a dry place to shelter at night, and some privacy during the daytime. It’d make the world of difference, right?
Some 1500 refugees are estimated to be sleeping rough or in camps in the woods of Calais and Dunkirk, including around 200 unaccompanied children. Even then, the police regularly confiscate and destroy their tents and tarpaulins. Tents are always needed to provide refugees with a safer, dry, warm place to sleep at night.
Help give a refugee in France a dry place to sleep by donating a tent. Buy them a sleeping bag as well to give them a warm, cosy night’s sleep.
Buy 21 packs of flatbreads for a displaced family and provide them with bread to last at least a week.
This parcel contains 21 packs of flatbreads, enough to feed a family of 4 for a week.
Buy a weatherproof coat for a refugee and help keep them warm and dry on cold, wet days.
The holy grail of desired clothing for refugees on the move, these weatherproof coats withstand rain, wind and sometimes freezing temperatures. Many refugees have been forced to sleep rough. Buying a waterproof coat to keep them warm and dry makes all the difference on cold, wet days and nights.
Women and children have already started crossing the border from Ukraine into neighbouring countries such as Poland and Hungary in their thousands. Many thousands, even millions, more are expected to follow suit over the next few weeks.
We’re putting together emergency food parcels to greet them with. These food parcels contain everything a family of 4 would need to stay fed and watered for a week. Due to limited or no cooking facilities, the items are mostly non-perishable, pre-packaged and easy cook items, although we will also be supplementing with some fresh fruit and vegetables too.
The parcel contains essentials such as breakfast biscuits, energy bars, long-life milk and bread, tinned meat, fruit and vegetables, instant soups, pasta and noodles, tea, water and multivitamins.
Buy 4 whole chickens for a refugee family in Syria and provide enough meat for several meals.
In Syria, prices for food and other essential items have increased dramatically over the past few years and in other places like Jordan, international food aid has been heavily reduced. Many families are struggling to buy basic stable foods and can no longer afford to eat meat. This parcel contains 4 whole chickens, enough to feed a family of 4 for several meals for the price that just 1 chicken would cost in the UK.
Thanks to your purchase, a refugee family will receive a food package helping them enjoy food stability and security and a more balanced diet.
Buy a box of fresh fruit and vegetables for less than the price of a meal out, and provide a month’s worth of seasonal fresh fruit and veg for a refugee family of 4!
The earthquake has destroyed thousands of homes, meaning many individuals and families will be forced to find emergency shelter in the middle of a cold winter.
Due to falling wreckage and weakened foundations, buildings have become dangerous places to seek refuge. A tent will provide warmth, shelter and safety for a whole family.
As we are on the ground we have not included our usual 10% administration cost. So the cost is the true cost of purchase in Syria and Turkey.
Instant noodles are the most frequently requested item by those who are displaced or living near the frontline in Ukraine.
They are high in fat, carbohydrates, and flavour! Noodles are also very easy to prepare with limited resources and are easy to store and transport when on the move. Plus noodles can be eaten as a stand-alone meal, or can be mixed with other ingredients.
For just £2.50, you can buy a pack of 10 instant noodles for a family in Eastern Ukraine - adding some variety to their weekly rations.
A severe snowstorm has hit camps for internally displaced people in northern Syria, bringing added hardship to thousands already left homeless by more than a decade of conflict. Hundreds of tents have collapsed due to the weight of the snowfall, says the UN, with at least one child killed as a result, while others have been left without shelter or food.
Help us to provide heater fuel to keep the families living in these displacement camps warm and prevent any more unnecessary deaths or hospitalisations.
This pack contains half a ton of firewood, enough to fuel one family’s heater for approximately one month.
